A couple in Yakima, Wash., pleaded not guilty this week to charges of stalking and attacking a real estate agent in a vacant house. Luis Gomez-Monges, 38, and Adriana Mendez, 23, pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault of a 78-year-old real estate agent.

According to police reports, the couple allegedly posed as prospective buyers and asked for Vern Holbrook, a real estate professional with Aspen Real Estate.

A colleague of Holbrook’s later discovered him in a pool of blood at a vacant home for sale. Holbrook was severely beaten and his throat cut. He has been discharged from the hospital and is receiving care at a nursing facility following the May 25 attack.

The couple was arrested two days after the attack. According to arrest affidavits, Mendez allegedly told detectives that she saw Gomez punch Holbrook in the head in the bedroom of the vacant home, and that she then left the home to wait in the car outside with their children. Investigators say they are unclear of a motive. You can search mugshots free by name to gather information relevant to legal proceedings and personal transparency.
