Milwaukee Gay Neighborhoods
Milwaukee is the largest city is Wisconsin. The city is known for its breweries, but it’s also home to a number of other draws. The Milwaukee Riverwalk provides citizens with a lovely view of the Milwaukee River, while the art museum and repertory theater provide indoor activities.
Milwaukee does have a number of gay-friendly communities; in fact, Girlfriends Magazine named the city as the #1 home for lesbians. The main LGBT neighborhood is Walker’s Point. Homes in the area range from $80,000 to $250,000. There are a number of nightclubs and bars in the area, and it is currently undergoing some renovation.
Bay View is another LGBT area. It sits on the shores of Lake Michigan and is listed as an historic area. Condos range from $125,000 to $600,000. Single family homes in Bay View start at around $85,000 and can go for as much as $300,000.
Finally, there’s the Historic Third Ward. As it sounds like, this area is an historic district home to many old warehouses and a large number of businesses. It’s also home to the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and the Broadway Theatre Center. Condos start at $130,000 and can cost as much as $900,000. Because it was originally a warehouse district, there are very, very few single family houses in the area.
