Columbus Gay Neighborhoods
The City of Columbus has stated that the city’s neighborhoods shouldn’t be defined, so it’s hard to state where specific gay areas are in the city. However, there are certain parts of the city that are home to fairly large LGBT communities, and many areas have been given nicknames over the years.
The Short North area, which is centered around North High Street and located north of the downtown area, is considered Columbus’s main gay neighborhood. The area includes Ohio State University and a number of older brick buildings. There are also some older apartment complexes and newer condos. There are few homes in the area for sale, but there are a number of condos available. They start at $150,000. The more expensive condos can be priced at $425,000.
The German Village area, which is located south of downtown Columbus, is an historic neighborhood originally settled by German immigrants during the 19th century. This area has recently become home to a number of LGBT residents. Condos in the German Village start out at $105,000 and top out at around $295,000. Single family homes range from $125,000 to $1.45 million.
