Shreveport is one of the largest cities in Louisiana and falls within the top 115 largest cities in the entire country. It sits on the Red River and near the corners of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. As such, it’s one of the largest commercial centers in the area, serving all three states. Shreveport features a number of large employers, including Barksdale Air Force Base and a number of companies in both education and healthcare. The film industry is also big in Shreveport, with a number of tax incentives bringing many motion pictures to the city.
Shreveport has a number of different neighborhoods, but if you’re looking for the city’s LGBT area, then you need to head to Cotton Street. This street is in Downtown Shreveport and is located on the southern side of the area. One of the city’s oldest LGBT bars is located on Cotton Street. The Korner Lounge has been open since the 1930s and is still one of the most popular bars in the city. Central Station, the largest LGBT bar, is also located in this part of the city.
Thinking about moving to Cotton Street? Condos in the downtown area start at $180,000 and end at $600,000. Single family homes are about the same, ranging from $163,000 to $500,000.
