Key West Gay Neighborhoods
Key West, Florida, is a popular island vacation city in the state. It sits to the southwest of Miami, but it’s actually closer to Cuba. Many cruise ships and other vessels dock at Key West to and from other destinations, and it’s also the site of a naval base. The all-year tropical weather draws many to this city, and former President Harry Truman even spent many winters there.
Besides tourism, Key West is known for its arts and its many museums. One such museum is the Key West Gay & Lesbian Museum & Archive. It’s a part of the city’s LGBT community center and includes many fascinating exhibits and historical artifacts. Many of the papers of Richard Heyman, one of the first openly gay individuals to be elected mayor, are kept at the museum.
Condos in Key West start at $165,000 and top out at around $2.350 million. Single-family homes can range from $95,000 to $15.8 million for a huge mansion.
