Hollywood LGBTQ City Guide

Hollywood, Florida might not have a huge sign or a lot of celebrities like its famous California counterpart – but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have so much to offer in its own way. This beautiful, sunny, coastal south Florida city is located in close proximity to both Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Hollywood offers the amenities of larger cities, while still also giving residents a more small-town feel. It is a city with plenty of beautiful natural scenery, much to see and do, and a smaller, but thriving LGBTQ community. If you’re thinking of finding your next home in Hollywood, chances are, you’ll find plenty about it to love!

A Look at Hollywood's History

Hollywood was founded by Joseph W. Young in 1925. Young had the vision of building a movie scene on the East Coast similar to that on the West Coast in California. He initially called it “Hollywood by the Sea,” and it was later shortened to Hollywood. Although it ultimately didn’t become a movie-making destination like its counterpart in California, it grew into a thriving, unique city in its own right, with much to over visitors and residents alike. For so many reasons, Hollywood would be a great place to call home.
