Palm Springs Gay Neighborhoods
Palm Springs, California, has been called a gay mecca - located about 100 miles east of Los Angeles.
The city offers many different attractions for visitors, including may sports (golf, tennis, biking and hiking) and other activities in the mountains and nearby desert. When it comes to LGBT-friendly areas, you’d be hard-pressed to find any place more welcoming than Palm Springs.
Palm Springs has the highest concentration of LGBT couples in the U.S., and it’s been estimated that about a third of the population is gay. In 2003, the city elected its first openly gay mayor.
The entire town of Palm Springs is basically one large gay neighborhood. You’ll find just about anything you could want here, including clothing-optional gay resorts and a gay men’s chorus.
Condos in Palm Springs start at $60,000 for a very small living space. Larger condos can hit the $3.9 million mark. Single family homes start at $134,000, but there are some giant mansions in the area that sell for as much as $9.5 million or more.
It's been reported that even the Obama's purchased a vacation home here in 2014!
