A Look at Fullerton's History

Fullerton's modern-day history began in 1887 when it was initially established as an agricultural stop along the railroad. It was officially incorporated in 1904, and it grew steadily, remaining an important producer of mustard, oranges, avocado, and walnuts, among other crops. It later also became an oil city, and eventually, a college town, home to five wonderful colleges and universities. It is also a city with a thriving arts and culture scene, a great deal of diversity, and plenty of opportunity for all who choose to call it home.

  • Five different colleges are located in Fullerton, among them, California State University Fullerton, Fullerton College, and Hope International University.
  • Fullerton has a thriving punk music scene and has produced some very talented musicians, including Gwen Stefani.

PFLAG Orange County

PFLAG Orange County is Fullerton’s local chapter of the national PFLAG organization. PFLAG is the largest grassroots organization of its kind in the country and has 500 chapters with more than 200,000 members in the United States. PFLAG plays a critical role in providing advocacy, support, and resources to the LGBTQ community, and offers monthly support meetings, as well as resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities for the LGBTQ community, friends, and allies.
