Anchorage Gay Neighborhoods
Anchorage, Alaska, has more LGBT people than you might think. Most people think of Alaska as being full of straight men and very few straight women—they don’t think of the gay community at all. But the city has a good number of LGBT people, and a large Pride event is held every June. The annual Pride Parade makes its way through the Park Strip, which is the center of the city’s main LGBT community.
Park Strip, which is officially named Delaney Park Strip, is one of the oldest areas of the city. Delaney Park, in fact, is the oldest park in Anchorage. The LGBT Community Center, which is located on 5th Avenue, is just a few blocks from the main park area. This area straddles South Addition and Downtown Anchorage.
South Addition condos run anywhere from $175,000 to $1.8 million, while single family homes range from $193,000 to $1.8 million. The Downtown area is actually a little cheaper for condos. They start at $135,000 and end around $700,000. For single family homes, expect to pay anywhere from $195,000 to $500,000.
