Montgomery Gay Neighborhoods
Montgomery, Alabama, is the capital city of the state and is home to more than 370,000 people. The city is approaching its 200th birthday in 2019, and over the years, it has grown into a center of government, technology, and culture. It’s also home to several universities, including Alabama State University, Troy University, Faulkner University, and Air University, a part of Maxwell Air Force Base where many of the Air Force’s recruits study.
While Alabama is known for not being very LGBT-friendly, the city of Montgomery goes actually have a few gay neighborhoods. Most of these are focused around the universities. The Cloverdale Historic District and the Garden District are both south of the downtown area, close to Alabama State University. There aren’t many condos available in Cloverdale, but single-family homes range from $50,000 to $525,000.
Likewise, the Garden District doesn’t have that many condos in it. Single-family homes in this area start at about $60,000 and range all the way up to $800,000.
