Bellevue, Nebraska lives up to the French translation of its name, which means “beautiful view.” Located eight miles south of Omaha, it is located at an elevation of 1159 feet. It is bounded on the east by the Missouri River. It was an originally a fur trading post for the American Fur Company that was located in St. Louis, Missouri and the Sarpy County Museum downtown has many artifacts from that era.
