Round Rock is a very pretty city that is built along the Blacones Escarpment, a fault line with fertile soils that is part of Texas Hill Country.  For years it was known as a “bedroom” community with most residents commuting to Austin to work, however that all changed when several big businesses, including Dell, move into the area in the nineties.  The population of Round Rock is now 94,272.

Red Rock began as a rural agricultural town and the housing styles still reflect that.  Properties tend to have large lots, even in areas downtown. You will see mansions and ranch style homes mixed in with mid-century craftsman styles, tract housing style bungalows and modern condos.  Round Rock still retains a lot of the architectural style that reflects the era when a great deal of cotton was farmed in the fertile black escarpment soil.  If you are a gardener you will enjoy living in Round Rock because the soil is so fertile.
