Norman Gay Neighborhoods

A large college town, Norman, Oklahoma, was first settled in the famous Land Run. Today, it’s mostly known as the home of the University of Oklahoma, the state’s largest university. The Sooners, one of the two most popular college football teams in the state, play here. Norman is also home to a number of different museums, including the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of National History and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. The Jones museum hosts the largest French Impressionist art collection in any university museum in the U.S.

With more than 120,000 people living here permanently and many more here temporarily for school, Norman is a bustling city. A number of those interested in weather work at the National Weather Center, a unique facility that brings together state, federal, university, and private-sector resources to study the atmosphere. The Storm Prediction Center and the National Severe Storms Laboratory are also located here.

As a college town, you can expect Norman to be fairly welcoming. The larger cities in Oklahoma are more progressive than the smaller, rural areas. There’s not a gay neighborhood here, but there are plenty of welcoming places. Condos in Norman typically range from $40,000 to around $225,000. Single-family homes in the area start at $75,000 and top out around $1.75 million.
