The East Mountains area of New Mexico isn’t exactly a single city or town. Instead, it’s an area made up of Cedar Crest, Tijeras, Sandia Park, and other areas. The location offers beautiful views of the mountains, plus it’s fairly close to Albuquerque. Residents have the small town feel many of them love, but are close enough to drive to events and stores in Albuquerque.
In addition to providing a nice, relaxing atmosphere that doesn’t seem to be in a hurry for anything, the area is also very gay friendly. The entire community of the East Mountains area is quite welcoming, and it’s a small enough place that most people know each other. The area has very low crime, too, unlike the larger city nearby.
Don’t expect to find many condos in this area. You’re much more likely to see sprawling ranch-style homes. These single-family houses often come with a nice amount of land attached. The cheaper properties will start out at around $60,000. However, there are some larger ranches and bigger homes that are priced at $1.3 million.
