Santa Clara was first incorporated as a town in 1852. Originally a small settlement, it began to grow with the establishment of Santa Clara College in 1851 as well as many small family farms and orchards which were developed in the area. Later, it became an important center for technology and remains so today, sitting in the heart of Silicon Valley. PFLAG San Jose-Peninsula

PFLAG San Jose-Peninsula is the Santa Clara area’s local chapter of the national PFLAG organization, which is the largest grassroots organization of its kind in the country. PFLAG is well-known for its mission of supporting LGBTQ people, friends, family, and allies across the country in a wide variety of ways. With 500 chapters and more than 200,000 members in the United States, PFLAG plays a critical and important role in providing advocacy, support, and resources to the LGBTQ community.

The Youth Space

The Youth Space is a youth community center for LGBTQ young adults ages 13 to 25 living in the Santa Clara area. The group plans events, provides meeting spaces, resources, and safe spaces to be around supportive people.

The DeFrank Center

The Billy DeFrank Center is an LGBTQ community center located in nearby San Jose. It has been supporting, celebrating, and advocating for the LGBTQ community in the greater Santa Clara area for four decades. The group provides many opportunities, programs, and resources and is truly a pillar of the city’s LGBTQ community.
