For those who want to be near all of the excitement downtown Los Angeles offers but don’t want to actually live in LA, there’s Thousand Oaks. This smaller city sites only about 35 miles to the northwest of the downtown area, but it’s only home to around 130,000 people. Thousand Oaks is a fairly new city that was incorporated in 1964.
