Citigroup has agreed to pay Fannie Mae $968 million for millions of mortgages the bank is accused of misrepresenting to the mortgage giant. Fannie Mae alleges bank officials had failed to confirm underwriting details on the loans, such as borrower income. About 3.7 million mortgages that Citi sold to Fannie Mae between 2000 and 2012 are part of the resolution agreement, Mortgage News Daily reports. Home prices in May experienced the largest year-over-year increase nationwide since February 2006, according to CoreLogic’s latest Home Price Index. This increase of 12.2% annually marked the 15th consecutive monthly increase in home prices nationally.

Home prices nationwide continue to benefit from a more active spring-buying season, Clear Capital said. The quarterly, yearly and two quarter forecasts all came in stronger at 1.4%, 8.6% an 1.7%, respectively, relative to past months.
