Pending home sales rise 25% in Miami area

Pending home sales in Broward County, Fla., home of the Miami metropolitan statistical area, increased 25% in October to 3,356 pending listings compared to 2,633 a year earlier. Those numbers come from the latest Miami Association of Realtors report. Pending sales of existing U.S. homes surged in October by the most in nearly a year as Americans took advantage of low interest rates for mortgages, data from a real estate trade group showed on Wednesday. New York City foreclosure filings dropped 32% in the third quarter over last year. Lenders filed 3,168 foreclosures on single-family and multifamily properties during the quarter, according to a study from New York University Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy.
