Move Inc. acquires Relocation.com

Move Inc. ($8.36 -0.17%) acquired Relocation.com, a site that connects homebuyers and renters with moving and storage companies for $11.5 million in cash. Move said $9.5 million for the acquisition was paid upon the deal close. The remainder will be paid in two equal amounts on the first and second anniversaries of the close, the company said. The financial impact of the transaction will be reflected in Move’s fourth quarter financial statements, which expects the acquisition to contribute revenue in the fourth quarter and to be accretive to 2013 earnings. The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul saw September home sales jump 11% over year ago levels while prices shot up 12.3%, the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors said. The median sales price in the region, which covers 13 counties, hit $174,000 as 4,032 homes ended up under contract. While the news is generally good news, the association partly attributes rising prices to less inventory. Survey: Americans More Upbeat About Housing

Americans continue to get more optimistic about the direction of the housing market, according to Fannie Mae’s September National Housing Survey of 1,000 Americans. In fact, Americans’ views on the direction of housing prices has remained positive for 11 consecutive months in the survey, and the number of people expecting home prices to fall now rests at 11 percent, an all-time low since the survey began in 2010. Wells Fargo Accused of ‘Reckless’ Lending

The government has filed a lawsuit in federal court against Wells Fargo, alleging the nation’s largest mortgage lender has engaged in a decade of regular “reckless origination and underwriting” of government-backed loans. The government’s lawsuit is the latest in its broad sweep against banks that cites the Federal False Claims Act, which targets lenders accused of misusing Federal Housing Administration loans. Fifty-one percent of real estate professionals say they expect home values to increase in the next six months, a rising number from 48 percent in the second quarter, according to HomeGain’s third quarter National Home Values Survey of real estate professionals and home owners.
