The wealthy tend to stay near major population centers, according to the study. As home prices are edging up, home equity lines of credit are on the rise again, CNBC reports. Originations of home equity lines of credit jumped 19 percent at the end of last year, according to Equifax. One in 53 mortgages were foreclosed on in 2012, according to the latest data from CoreLogic. While the number is still high, CoreLogic notes the numbers are quickly improving. Foreclosures dropped 21 percent in December 2012 compared to December 2011. In December, 56,000 foreclosures were completed compared to 71,000 a year prior. An average of 21,000 foreclosures completed in a month is considered more of a “normal” range, according to CoreLogic. Redfin, a Seattle-based brokerage, announced it will begin display “Offer Insights” with home-search results of listings from its buyer’s agents. The new program will include the status of the property, whether an offer has been accepted or not, and if it’s a multiple-offer situation.
