After three weeks of gains, mortgage applications reversed course and dropped last week, amid rising mortgage rates, the Mortgage Bankers Association reported in its weekly survey. Most of the drop was attributed to a decrease in refinancing. Home prices rose in 19 of the 20 U.S. cities studied by Standard & Poor’s for the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices, falling only in New York, for the 12-month period ending in November.
