Rising Student Loan Debt Keeps Buyers Out

Mortgage Loan

Between 2004 and 2012, student loan balances nearly tripled, according to a new survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. What’s more, one-third of student loan borrowers are delinquent on their debt, according to the Federal Reserve report. This will impact their credit rating and possibly keep them out of the mortgage market much longer if they don’t look into lien searches. “Short term, you see a decrease in the number of first-time home buyers,” Brian Coester of Coester Valuation Management told CNBC. “You’re going to see somebody […]

Buying a Home

When I started selling Real Estate in 1989 – it was a down market in Washington, DC. My broker at the time told me it would take 6 months to make my first sale – I took 3. Over the years, I’ve had a great time working with buyers and sellers. I consider it a privilege and an honor to be able to help people with one of the most important and personal decisions of their lives. I’ve worked as a manager of a Real Estate firm on the Upper […]

Featured Santa Cruz Gay Realtor: Michael, Coldwell Banker

Buying a Home

I would love to be your Real Estate advocate in Santa Cruz! Once you select the “Contact” button you’ll have access to my website for my bio, testimonials, and lots of information about the Santa Cruz area. I moved to Santa Cruz with my husband in 2000 after living many places in the country and absolutely fell in love with the area. It’s large enough and close enough to enjoy what a major metro area can provide, and yet our community here in Santa Cruz is smaller, and perhaps more […]

Housing Scorecard Shows Big Gains in ‘Fragile’ Recovery

Other

The housing market is making key progress in home prices and sales, but officials warn that the overall recovery remains “fragile” in the Obama administration’s Housing Scorecard for March. “Despite the positive news, we have important work ahead since there are so many families and individuals still struggling,” says Kurt Usowski, HUD deputy assistant secretary for economic affairs. In 2012, home owner equity grew by more than $1.64 trillion. Rising home values have lifted 1.7 million home owners above water again, the Housing Scorecard notes. Home prices and home sales […]

Buyers of Foreclosures Need to Act Fast

Buying a Home

Foreclosures are being listed at far less than what they likely eventually will sell for — a marketing strategy that generates high interest and multiple bids, some say. As such, buyers of foreclosures need to be prepared to move quickly and come up with a lot more money. For example, Liz Sidorowicz, a real estate professional with RE/MAX Signature, says she helped her client submit an offer for a foreclosure in Mount Prospect, Ill., for $421,000. The home was listed for $350,000, but her client still lost out to a […]

Buying a Home

The journey of purchasing or selling a home is not always a smooth one, so I think of myself as an advocate for my clients. The first step in this process is to listen; a skill that I believe is the key to success ~ I will always be honest with you and available for you. As a member of the GLBT community, I understand that for us the stress of buying a home can be multiplied by our experience in the marketplace. My job is to smooth the way, […]

Get Ready for Big Bidding Wars This Spring

Selling a Home

With tighter inventories of homes for sale, buyers are finding increased competition through bidding wars. But the bidding may not be between only one or two other buyers — more bidding wars are popping up where dozens or even hundreds of other buyers are all competing for the same property. “The only question is not whether a new listing will get multiple bids but how many it will get,” Kris Vogt, who manages Coldwell Banker offices in the Sacramento area, told CNNMoney. For example, a home in Elk Grove, Calif., […]

Obama Administration to Banks: Ease Up on Home Loans

Mortgage Loan

The Obama administration is making a push for home loans to be more available to those with weaker credit, adding that the housing recovery is leaving too many potential home buyers behind — particularly young professionals — who can’t qualify for financing. The administration says easing up mortgage standards would also help provide a boost to the economic recovery. However, critics say it could prompt the return of risky lending that was blamed for igniting the housing crash. The administration says it is working to get banks to lend to […]
