Demand for Solar New Homes Doubles

Uncategorized

“When you’re watching our monthly expenses carefully, choosing a home with solar is a no-brainer. We chose to build our new solar-powered home with KB Home because we were able to personalize nearly every aspect of our new home, including its energy efficiency through a process KB calls Built to Order,” said Rutstein. Sales of new production homes with rooftop solar power systems nearly doubled from 2011 to 2012, suggesting homebuyers are searching for ways to control monthly electricity costs, the California Solar Initiative said. San Diego’s Vision ~ A Bike Mecca City

Other

Gay Friendly San Diego is about to become “Bike Friendly San Diego” according to a story out today. Fundamental changes in how our region moves to work, live and play are progressing fast in San Diego. Gay Couples have a Positive Impact on a Community’s Home Values

Buying a Home

FHFA-OIG magnifies GSEs REO management

Other

Due to the high-risk nature of managing real-estate owned assets at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Office of Inspector General for the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA-OIG) has implemented an aggressive evaluation process to assess FHFA’s REO oversight and conservatorship efforts, according to a new report. The report evaluates initiatives by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the GSEs to shrink their respective REO inventories, while addressing steps taken by the HUD Inspector General and FHFA-OIG to assess their respective REO-related activities. When the national REO […]

Housing hits strong pace in all districts: Beige Book

Other

With the exception of Dallas, all of the Federal Reserve districts reported modest to moderate growth in economic activity in the Fed’s latest April Beige Book. Residential real estate, construction activity and commercial real estate improved markedly since the March report, with all districts seeing strength in housing activity and loan demand improving in most districts. Residential real estate activity increased at a moderate to strong pace in all districts due to higher demand and declining inventory levels — a factor that tends to buoy prices. Almost all surveyed districts […]

CoreLogic’s home price index climbed 12.1 percent in April over year-ago levels. Home prices have been on the rise for more than a year. “The pace of the housing market recovery quickened in April as home prices rose across the U.S.,” says Anand Nallathambi, CoreLogic’s chief executive officer. “We expect this trend to continue, bolstered by tight supplies and pent-up buyer demand.” CoreLogic economists […]
