Houston Gay Neighborhoods
Houston, Texas, is the most populous city in the state. It’s situated in the Southeastern part of the state and is home to more than 2.2 million people. With its 667 square miles of official city land, it’s also the largest sized city in the Southern part of the United States. Houston serves as one of the major cities in the Houston-Woodlands-Sugar Land Metro Area.
The city is known as being the home to the Johnson Space Center, one of NASA’s primary centers and the location of Mission Control. It’s also the location of the Texas Medical Center, a section of the city with 21 hospitals, eight research institutions, eight specialty centers, and a number of different medical schools. It’s the world’s largest medical center, and it’s estimated that a surgical operation is performed every three minutes.
In addition to the Pride Parade, which is actually held at night in Houston, there are a number of other stand-out events. These include the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Art Car Parade, and the Bayou City Art Festival, one of the top art festivals in the country.
One of the main gay neighborhoods in the city is Neartown/Montrose. These two neighborhoods have more or less merged. Single family homes are priced from $173,000 to $1.9 million. Condos range from $165,000 to $2 million.
