Houston Gay Neighborhoods
Houston is one of the more liberal cities in traditionally conservative Texas, which means it’s much more welcoming to the LGBT community.
Montrose, the Heart of Houston, is one of the older neighborhoods in Houston. During the 1970s, the LGBT community of Houston began moving into the area. While it’s no longer the main gay community, a number of LGBT people still live here. Condos are priced anywhere from $41,000 to $2.75 million. Single family homes can range from $111,000 to $2.6 million.
Starting in the 2010s, the LGBT population shifted from Montrose to Houston Heights. This area is also home to a huge number of professional artists. Homes are rarely for sale in the area, but when one is available, but when they are, they range from $85,000 to $1.5 million or more.
Those looking for a quiet neighborhood may want to look at Candlelight Oaks. The homes here are priced affordably, and everyone is friendly and very welcoming. Many of the houses here were built in the 60s and 70s and are fairly large. Home prices range from $85,000 to $1.35 million.
