Philadelphia Gay Neighborhoods
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection. Over 300 years ago, William Penn founded the city on the two principles of freedom of expression and equality. Today, Philadelphia continues to follow Penn’s dedication to these two ideas with its annual LGBT pride festivals, popular gay bars, and a thriving gayborhood.
Philadelphia is home to over 1.5 million people, making it the fifth-largest city in the U.S. Everything you could ever want is here, including historical sites like the Liberty Bell, gorgeous parks such as Fairmount Park, and more outdoor murals and sculptures than any other city in the country. It’s no wonder that Philadelphia is the only World Heritage City in the U.S. You don’t even have to go inside any building to enjoy a day in this city!
The Center City area is definitely Philly’s gay neighborhood, although the entire city is certainly welcoming. This area is where you’ll find many LGBT-owned businesses, clubs, and restaurants. While the homes here are certainly amazing, note that they are a little higher than you might find in other parts of the city. Condos run anywhere from $250,000 to $3.1 million. Single-family homes, likewise, range from around $160,000 to $2.5 million.
