When it comes to selling a house fast, the words used to describe it matter, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Houses that real estate agents describe as “move-in condition” sell 12 percent faster than homes listed without those words. Another term that helps speed up the selling process is “starter homes,” which sell 9 percent faster.
But not every term helps a sale overall. A house called a “handyman special” sells about 50 percent faster, but the sale price is 30 percent lower than listings that don’t use those words.
Words that depict distinct attributes, such as granite, correspond with higher sale prices. Also, words that describe specific attributes, such as garage, increase the sale price.
