The capital of North Carolina, Raleigh is a large city known for its many oak trees and well-planned city streets.  The city is home to a number of different historic, educational, and cultural museums, theaters, and other sites. 

What many people may not realize is that Raleigh is also home to a good sized LGBT population. While the city isn’t as big of a draw as San Francisco, it has become progressively more gay-friendly in recent years. There are a few neighborhoods that are home to more gays and lesbians than others, overall the entire city is welcoming.

For those who are looking for a gay neighborhood, the downtown part of Raleigh is the place to start. It’s a trendy area that’s growing fairly quickly. A number of new apartment complexes and condos have been built recently, allowing more and more people to move into the area. Single family homes can range from $96,000 to $715,000.  Condos tend to be a little more expensive – the cheapest are around $190,000.  The most expensive condos may cost as much as $750,000.
