Named after the founder of the Roanoke Colony, Raleigh, North Carolina, is the capital of the state. Raleigh is a major research area thanks to North Carolina State University. This university, along with Duke University in Durham and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, form what’s called the Research Triangle.
