Duluth Gay Friendly Neighborhoods
Duluth, Minnesota, is a charming city that sits on the shores of Lake Superior. It’s one of the larger cities in the state, coming in fifth with a population of more than 85,000 people. The city is also one of the state’s seaports, offering access to the Atlantic Ocean via the Great Lakes Waterway. Duluth is surrounded by some of the most beautiful sites in the state, including the Leif Erikson Park and Garden and the Jay Cooke State Park. Many hiking and biking trails are also available, plus residents often go sailing, surfing, and skiing on Lake Superior. The Lake Superior Zoo, Great Lakes Aquarium, and the North Shore Scenic Railroad are also major attractions.
The LGBT community in Duluth is centered around the downtown area. This diverse location features a number of LGBT-owned coffeehouses and other businesses, plus it’s home to the last gay bathhouse in the upper Midwest. A number of new condos have been built as part of the redevelopment project, too. These condos range in price from $259,000 to $469,000. Single family homes in downtown Duluth cost anywhere from $89,900 to $699,000.
