Baton Rouge Gay Neighborhoods
Baton Rouge, LA, is the capital of Louisiana and one of the main commercial and political hubs of the state. Its port is one of the busiest ports in the country, moving thousands of tons of shipments every day. A city of this size, especially one that is near New Orleans and celebrates Mardi Gras, is sure to have some great LGBT neighborhoods.
One of the most popular LGBT areas is near Louisiana State University. Called Spanish Town, this area is an historic district with many Spanish-style homes. Since it’s near LSU, many places are rented out to students during the school year. It can be difficult to find any type of home in Spanish Town, unfortunately, and when you do, it will be pricy. Single family homes can range from $560,000 to $1.5 million. You will find a good number of rental properties, however.
Then there’s Beauregard Town. It’s near Spanish Town, but it’s also very expensive. Shenandoah and South Baton Rouge are also good, LGBT-friendly neighborhoods. If you’re considering South Baton Rouge, you’ll pay between $95,000 and $250,000 for a condo. Single family homes may start at $110,000 for a small house and top out at around $2.8 million.
