Rockford Gay Neighborhoods
The third largest city in Illinois, Rockford has more than 150,000 people in the city proper and a metro area of almost 350,000. This city is at about the halfway point between Galena and Chicago, making it perfect for shipping lanes between the two. Rockford has become a major manufacture of tools, heavy machinery, furniture, and more. Today, following its economic diversification, the city also has major automotive, healthcare, and aerospace companies. Rockford is also known for its gardens and forests. In fact, it is called the Forest City because of all the greenery you will find throughout.
Rockford does not have a gay neighborhood, although it does have a few LGBT bars and clubs. Someplace Else II and The Office are two of the most popular. Living in Rockford is very affordable—you’ll find some small single-family homes for as little as $55,000. More expensive homes, of course, can be as much as $1.15 million. As far as condos go, you’ll find properties going for anywhere from $50,000 to $750,000.
