Peoria Gay Neighborhoods
Peoria, Illinois, is part of the larger Peoria metro area. The city itself is home to more than 118,000 people, while the metro area population is quickly approaching 375,000. With that many people, it’s no surprise that large businesses such as Caterpillar Inc. have their headquarters in the city. It’s also home to a number of museums and other activities. Every summer, runners from around the globe come to Peoria for the Steamboat Classic, the largest four-mile race in the world.
Peoria did have an issue with a bar discriminating against the LGBT community in 2009, but the response from the city’s strong LGBT community quickly brought action, and today, Peoria is a welcoming city. While it has no true gay ghetto, Peoria is home to a good sized gay and lesbian community.
Single family homes in Peoria start at around $30,000 and end at $1.3 billion. Condos, on the other hand, range from $50,000 to $825,000.
