When it comes to residential real estate, gay realtor Chicago reports that this city has some of the highest price tags in the country ~ it's very expensive to live in the inner-city gay friendly neighborhoods like "Boys Town", but the city also pays among the highest salaries, making it possible combined with the super low interest rates to make a great purchase.
As for rentals ~ we noticed this article on renatls for the "rich and famous"
The Waldorf Astoria and Trump International Hotel & Tower account for over half of the most expensive home rentals in Chicago, according to Midwest Real Estate Data LLC.
Crain's Chicago Business reported a 6,850-square-foot condo in the Trump building, located at 401 N. Wabash Ave., is being rented by talk-show host Steve Harvey for $25,000 per month. Harvey debuted his new "Steve Harvey" show last month.
The newspaper reported renting has been an attractive option not only for those who haven't been able to secure a loan to buy, but for athletes and actors who will be short-term residents in The Windy City.
Over at the Waldorf, at 11 E. Walton St., actor Kelsey Grammar rented a condo for $13,500, while shooting episodes of "The Boss," according to the report.
Those rental rates are a far cry from where real estate data company Zillow reports rents in the Chicago area. Their report says the median rent list price is $1,440 per month, a year-over-year increase of 2.5 percent.
