Columbus is home to a number of military personnel thanks to nearby Fort Benning, has many different museums, and has a number of outdoor recreational activities. Education and healthcare are also major industries centered in Columbus.
Because Columbus isn’t that far from Atlanta and Auburn University, it’s not as conservative as you might expect. In fact, it’s fairly diverse, and you’ll find neighborhoods here that are more than welcoming to LGBT singles and families. Columbus actually has a huge pride parade every year!
Looking for a gay neighborhood? While there’s not a true gayborhood here, many LGBT people have settled in the Short North Arts District. This cultural district sits just to the north of the downtown area and has a number of restaurants and boutiques in it.
