Blackbird Airpark

Palmdale has a rich history in the aerospace industry, and those interested in learning more about that history will definitely want to stop and visit the Blackbird Airpark. The park is named after the Lockheed SR-71A, or Blackbird, which was a reconnaissance aircraft created in the 1960s after a highly-classified development project. Only 32 were ever built, and this park is the only place in the world where visitors can see one of these incredible machines up close. The park also offers visitors the opportunity to see several other unique aerospace artifacts as well.

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve

If you want a quick trip away to relax and refresh in nature, definitely give the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve a try. This beautiful, state-protected reserve is located in the western Mojave Desert at an elevation ranging from 2600-to 3000 feet, and while every time of year is a beautiful time to visit, during spring especially, there are a beautiful variety of wildflowers blooming around the park.
