Garden Grove LGBTQ City Guide

Garden Grove is a beautiful California city, located about an hour outside of Los Angeles, in Orange County. It is far enough from the city to offer a small-town feel, but close enough to offer access to its many amenities. It is a city known for being friendly, warm, and welcoming, and for offering much to see and do. Even better, it is a city with a smaller, but vibrant LGBTQ community, where all can feel welcome and at home.

A Look at the History of Garden Grove

Garden Grove was founded by Alonzo Cook in 1874. Later that year, a school district and a Methodist church were organized that year. The town remained a relatively small rural crossroads until around 1905 when the railroad arrived in the area. The railroad helped the town to prosper, particularly as it was a key agricultural center for oranges, walnuts, chili peppers, strawberries, and other goods. The town continued to grow, and after World War II, growth increased rapidly, eventually resulting in the incorporation of Garden Grove as a city in 1956. Since that time, Garden Grove has remained a city full of industry and opportunity, but also one with plenty of recreational, cultural, and entertainment options to enjoy. For so many reasons, Garden Grove would make a wonderful place to call home!
