  • The Center: The San Diego LGBTQ Community Center, or simply, “The Center” for short, is an integral part of LGBTQ life in the San Diego area. With the mission of enhancing and sustaining the health of the LGBTQ community across the city, this community-based group plans events, provides a wide variety of resources, offers support, and much more.
  • San Diego Equality Business Association: The San Diego Equality Business Association, or SDEBA for short, is a non-profit, community-based LGBTQ business organization of the greater San Diego area that seeks to promote LGBTQ influence through business association. With a wide variety of LGBTQ+ professionals, businesses, and allies as members, the group is an essential part of promoting and supporting LGBTQ+ businesses across the region. 

San Diego’s Best Neighborhoods

Without question, San Diego has a great deal to offer its LGBTQ+ community, and those resources are intended to reach the many wonderful LGBTQ+ neighborhoods throughout the city. Some of the neighborhoods in San Diego which are most popular with the LGBTQ community include:

  • Hillcrest: Hillcrest is the “gaybourhood” of San Diego and the center of LGBTQ activities. They host the city’s annual gay pride parade, as well as other events year-round. A lot of the population commutes to work by bike, and the area is full of gay bars, farm-to-table eateries, and fabulous shops. There is also a weekly Farmer’s Market that sells produce, flowers, and local treats. Concerts are held frequently at Trolley Barn Park, as well as outdoor movie screenings.   • University Heights: This neighborhood sits in central San Diego and offers a variety of different housing options from condos to cottages to million-dollar homes. Like Old Town nearby, many Spanish Colonial bungalows populate the area.The area is only a few minutes away from Balboa Park, San Diego State University, and the San Diego Airport.
